14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi scores 108 off 61 balls, becoming the youngest centurion in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history.

Kolkata: During Tuesday’s game against Maharashtra at Edens Garden, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest centurion in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

As a member of Bihar, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to ever reach a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 108 runs off just 61 balls, including seven fours and an equal number of sixes.

Before earning the record-breaking three-figure score, the young batter, who had previously earned low totals of 14, 13, and 5, scored his first fifty of the competition off 34 balls.

In just his sixteenth professional Twenty20 match, Suryavanshi scored his third century. In addition, he reached three figures in 58 balls, making it the slowest century he has ever scored.

Bihar scored 176/3 thanks to the outstanding century from vice captain Suryavanshi. In response, Maharashtra is currently 174-7 as of the report’s publication.

Surayvanshi, who is only 14 years and 23 days old, made history earlier this year when he made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants. Nine days later, he stunned everyone by becoming the youngest centurion in the history of the league. His scorching 100 off 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans was the second-fastest IPL century ever, only surpassed by Chris Gayle, and the fastest by an Indian.

He became the youngest player to reach the century mark in the history of the format with a scorching 143 in the fourth game of the series, which was the fastest century ever in U19 men’s ODIs.

In a Youth Test match last month in Brisbane, the powerful southpaw also hammered a ton against the Australia U19 team. He recently hit 144 off 42 balls for India A against the United Arab Emirates in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, slamming 11 fours and 15 sixes in an incredible innings.

He broke a two-decade-old record by being the youngest player to score a century for any national representative team at the senior level with his 32-ball total.
