Saras Milk to Expand Nationally with Support from Union Government, Says Minister
Jaipur, October 9, 2024: Rajasthan’s iconic dairy brand, Saras, is set to expand its footprint beyond the state, with plans to establish a strong presence in Delhi, NCR, and Uttar Pradesh. The Union Government has assured its full support to the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF) for its ambitious expansion program. This announcement was made during a two-day visit to Rajasthan by Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dr. S.P. Singh Baghel, who praised the state’s dairy sector and the potential it holds for further growth.
Dr. Baghel, while addressing the gathering, expressed his appreciation for the excellent work being done in dairy development in Rajasthan. “Rajasthan has immense potential for growth in the dairy sector, and the Government of India will extend every possible assistance to the state government and RCDF for their expansion plans,” he said. The expansion will not only bring Saras products to a wider market but also boost the state’s dairy economy significantly.
Major Investment in the Dairy Sector
On the same occasion, State Minister for Animal Husbandry, Devasthan, and Gopalan, Shri Jora Ram Kumawat, along with Minister of State for Dairy and Home, Shri Jawahar Singh Bedham, outlined the government’s vision for the state’s dairy industry. The ministers revealed that more than ₹500 crore will be invested in Rajasthan’s dairy sector as part of the Rising Rajasthan initiative. This investment is aimed at modernizing the dairy industry, enhancing production capacities, and enabling the state to meet the growing demand for quality dairy products both locally and nationally.
Shri Kumawat emphasized that the dairy sector is a cornerstone of Rajasthan’s rural economy and plays a critical role in improving the livelihood of farmers. “The investment will bring about a significant transformation in the sector, benefiting not only dairy farmers but also consumers who are looking for high-quality and nutritious dairy products,” he added.
Expansion Plans and Innovations at RCDF
Managing Director of Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF), Smt. Shruti Bhardwaj, provided detailed insights into the organization’s performance and future plans. She revealed that RCDF achieved record profits in the last financial year, a testament to its efficient operations and the growing demand for Saras products.
Smt. Bhardwaj highlighted RCDF’s expansion strategy, which includes entering key markets like Delhi, NCR, and Uttar Pradesh. “Our focus is not only on expanding geographically but also on diversifying our product offerings,” she said. New products in the pipeline include mustard-based innovations, cold coffee, and diet-conscious products aimed at health-conscious consumers. Additionally, RCDF is exploring export opportunities, positioning Saras as a major player in the dairy industry both domestically and internationally.
Union Minister Launches Saras Deepawali Gift Pack
As part of his visit, Dr. S.P. Singh Baghel also launched RCDF’s special Saras Deepawali Gift Hand Pack, a festive offering filled with a range of high-quality Saras products. The Diwali gift pack, which features a selection of sweets and other dairy items, was lauded by the Minister for its excellent quality and consumer appeal.
Dr. Baghel commended RCDF for its efforts to provide healthy and delicious products to consumers, especially during festive occasions like Diwali. “The Saras Deepawali Gift Pack is a perfect example of how the dairy sector can innovate while maintaining high standards of quality,” he remarked.
Boosting the Dairy Economy
The expansion of Saras products into new markets is expected to significantly boost Rajasthan’s dairy economy, providing new opportunities for dairy farmers and cooperatives across the state. With the backing of both the state and central governments, the dairy sector is poised for rapid growth. The investments made under the Rising Rajasthan initiative will further strengthen the infrastructure required for modern dairy farming and processing.
