CM Nayab Singh Saini reviews Haryana’s Kenya visit report; plans MoU for 1 lakh hectares of overseas farming and stronger agri cooperation.

A crucial meeting to discuss the report of the Haryana delegation that recently visited Kenya was conducted by Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini late on Wednesday evening. Potential areas of agricultural investment and international cooperation were thoroughly discussed during the meeting. Ganaur MLA Sh. Devender Kadyan and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana were also in attendance on this particular occasion.

In the agricultural sector, the Chief Minister gave the concerned officers instructions to expedite their practical cooperation with the Kenyan government. He oversaw the creation of a detailed proposal for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would allow farmers in Haryana to cultivate on about one lakh hectares of land in Kenya.

According to the Chief Minister, Haryana already exports a lot of agricultural goods to Kenya, and future collaboration in investment, import-export, processing, and production should be further enhanced.

Additionally, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini instructed the officers of the Agriculture and Foreign Cooperation departments to work together to create an action plan that would guarantee farmers interested in international agricultural endeavors receive thorough agricultural, horticultural, and technical support in a coordinated manner.

In order to provide farmers the necessary direction and assistance, he underlined that agricultural universities should also be involved as partner institutions.

According to the Chief Minister, Haryana’s farmers can use their knowledge overseas because Kenya’s climate and soil are ideal for Indian agriculture. He claimed that in addition to strengthening Haryana’s reputation as a global agricultural identity, this project would provide the state’s farmers with new business prospects.

According to the chief minister, the Haryana government wants to make the state’s agricultural industry competitive on a worldwide scale. He also said that Haryana’s farmers, agricultural specialists, and businesspeople would have new worldwide opportunities as a result of the Kenya visit. He gave officers instructions to turn the visit’s conclusions and insights into a tangible action plan that would directly assist farmers.

The report of the Kenya visit was provided by Sh. Pawan Chaudhary, the Department of Foreign Cooperation’s Advisor to the Chief Minister, during the meeting. He reported that the International Institute of Agricultural Research, the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) held fruitful meetings in Nairobi during the visit. Mechanization, food processing, climate change plans, agricultural innovation, and export-import cooperation were all topics of discussion.

He added that in order to foster bilateral cooperation in new technologies, research, and training, Indian and Kenyan agricultural universities and research organizations have decided to begin exchange programs. Opportunities for investment in food processing and the expansion of trade in agricultural products were also discussed.

Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS); Prof. Vinod Kumar Verma, Chief Administrator, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board; and Sh. Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, Director General, Animal Husbandry, were also in attendance.
