Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema launches Pensioner Sewa Portal to streamline pension services for over 3.15 lakh retirees in the state.
Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema announced the opening of the Pensioner Sewa Portal. This one-stop shop is meant to make pension services easier for almost 3.15 lakh retirees in the state. The goal of the website https://pensionersewa.punjab.gov.in is to automate the processing of pension disbursement cases and offer a variety of services to pensioners and family pensioners.
Harpal Singh Cheema, the Finance Minister, spoke at a press conference at Punjab Bhawan. He said that the portal will initially offer six key services to pensioners. These services include submitting digital life certificates through the “Jeevan Pramaan” mobile app, applying to convert a pension into a family pension through the Succession Module, applying for Leave Travel Concession (LTC), submitting pension-related complaints through the Grievances Module, and updating or changing a pensioner’s personal information through the Profile Updation Module. The Finance Minister further said that it is easy and straightforward to get these services. He said that pensioners can sign up for the “Pensioner Sewa Portal” by doing their e-KYC through the Aadhar authentication feature on the platform. “Then, they can use their login IDs on the portal to get these services from the comfort of their own homes on their mobile phones, PCs, or laptops. Cheema further noted that people can get these services by going to the nearest Sewa Kendras, asking for home delivery of service, or going to the District Treasury Offices or Pension Disbursing institutions.
The Minister also made it clear what was going on for seniors living abroad. He said that the Pensioner Sewa Portal is only working in India right now, thus pensioners living abroad don’t have to do e-KYC in this first phase. He promised that work is being done to make e-KYC available for NRI pensioners. Pensioners living outside the country will keep sending in manual Life Certificates until then, just like they have been doing.
The Finance Minister said that instant help and support would be available for longer because some retirees might have trouble registering at first. He noted that the Directorate of Treasuries & Accounts, Pension, and New Pension Scheme has set up a special War Room to quickly deal with complaints that come up when the portal goes live. He went on to say, “Three dedicated helpline numbers (18001802148, 01722996385, 01722996386) have been set up at the Directorate level. These numbers will be available on all working days from 9 AM to 5 PM to help pensioners with their problems.”

The Finance Minister said that training sessions have gone well for staff at the District Treasury Offices, banks, and Sewa Kendras, and that full user manuals have been sent out. This will help make sure that the rollout goes well. A trial of the Pensioner Sewa Portal has already been successfully completed at the District Treasury Offices, banks, and Sewa Kendras, which is a big step toward making it available to everyone in the state.
The Finance Minister said that this innovative measure shows how much the government cares about its retired workers. He said, “Our pensioners are our pride.” He said that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to serving the requirements of its retired workers. He also said that the Pensioner Sewa Portal will make sure that all pensioners in the state get their pensions on time, accurately, and without any problems. He was sure that this groundbreaking measure would help retirees living in the state and make their lives simpler.
