Dr. Baljit Kaur says Punjab Govt has provided ₹242.77 crore aid to 2.32 lakh orphaned and dependent children, ensuring education and care.

Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab’s Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, said that the Punjab Govt, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is working hard to make sure that orphaned and dependent children have a good future by providing them with ongoing financial and social support.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that so far, ₹242.77 crore in financial help has been given to dependent children all throughout the State. This money is meant to help kids whose parents have died or whose family are going through tough times.

She further said that this initiative has a budget of ₹410 crore set up for the current financial year 2025–26. There are currently 2,32,290 children who get regular financial help. This helps them get an education, a good upbringing, and a better quality of life.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said again that the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government is completely dedicated to making sure that every kid in Punjab has access to basic care, protection, and chances to flourish. The government’s ongoing support shows how kind and sensitive it is toward the most vulnerable members of society.

The Minister went on to say that the Department is also looking into integrated welfare programs that include skill development, counseling, and education support for dependent children as they become older, making sure that they have a smooth transition into adulthood when they can take care of themselves. She stressed that Punjab’s promise extends beyond money; it seeks to raise every child to be a strong and capable citizen of the State.
