Punjab CM Flying Squad monitors ₹4,150 crore project to upgrade 19,491 km of rural link roads, ensuring top-quality materials and road safety, says Minister Khudian.

Punjab CM Flying Squad ,  established by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to guarantee the highest quality of roads being repaired & upgraded by Punjab Mandi Board & PWD, has been closely observing the ongoing upgrading and repair work of rural link roads throughout the state, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister S. Gurmeet Singh.

This monitoring is a component of the state government’s extensive project, which would cost Rs 4150 crore and involve the upgrading and repair of 19,491 kilometers of link roads.

The Agriculture Minister affirmed that only the best quality materials are being utilized to build, renovate, and repair roads, and he warned that any contractor found to be compromising on material quality will face severe consequences.

The CM Flying Squad teams are currently on the ground and have already visited seven districts, including Faridkot, SBS Nagar, Tarn Taran, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Gurdaspur, according to S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian.

According to S. Khudian, Punjab has 30,237 Link Roads totaling 64,878 kilometers in length, of which 33492 kilometers are under the jurisdiction of the Punjab Mandi Board and 31 386 kilometers are under the Public Works Department (PWD). He stated that the Punjab Government is now commencing a project to repair and upgrade 7,373 link roads with a total length of 19,491.56 kilometers.

According to him, the project will cost Rs 4,150.42 crore, which includes five years of maintenance. While Rs 725.75 crore will be spent on five-year maintenance, Rs 3,424.67 crore will be spent on repairs and upgrades. He also mentioned that an Artificial Intelligence (AI) study that was done for these roads saved Rs 383.53 crore.

According to the Agriculture Minister, a special road safety project of Rs 91.83 crore is being carried out on the repaired and upgraded connecting roads to guarantee public safety in foggy or dark situations. He noted that in order to make travel safer in the event of fog or darkness, a white stripe three inches wide will be painted on both sides of the connection roads.
