Sanjeev Arora’s Krishna Pran Trust held Unite for Pinktober with Hina Khan and Seema Bansal, promoting breast cancer awareness and early detection in Punjab.

The Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust, led by Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, held Unite for Pinktober, an annual breast cancer awareness event, at Guru Nanak Bhawan today in keeping with its unwavering commitment to raising awareness of breast cancer and offering free medical examinations.

Renowned TV and movie actress Hina Khan and Punjab Development Commission Vice-Chairperson Seema Bansal, who both survived breast cancer, honored the occasion by sharing their intensely personal stories. Shweta Jindal and Nomita Khanna moderated the session.

In a lively exchange, Hina Khan, who received a 2024 diagnosis of stage-three breast cancer, thanked Minister Sanjeev Arora for asking her to raise awareness of cancer in general and breast cancer in particular. She described how she fought the illness and came out stronger, more resilient, and more in control of her life.

Khan advised the audience to stay alert and aware of their bodies’ cues. She was a fervent supporter of self-detection, stressing the importance of normalizing discussions about cancer and facing it head-on. She suggested doing self-examinations every two weeks. If you see any unexpected changes, such as tumors, skin dimpling, or leakage, you should see a doctor right away.

Khan also discussed her life’s philosophy, which is to “live in the moment.” Don’t worry about the future or linger on the past. Overcome obstacles with determination and optimism.

According to Seema Bansal, the key to effective treatment is early detection. She emphasized that early cancer detection with easily available diagnostics, such as mammography, can greatly increase survival chances. “When detected early, breast cancer is highly curable,” she said, advocating for increased public awareness and de-stigmatization of the condition.

Minister Sanjeev Arora emphasized in his moving speech the importance of October as Pink Month, which has been commemorated globally since 1985 to raise awareness of breast cancer. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Seema Bansal and Hina Khan for raising awareness of this important issue.

“The most effective strategy we have to lower the death rate from breast cancer is self-examination,” Arora said. It significantly raises the survivor rate, saves lives, and empowers people. Early intervention is crucial, so never downplay or dismiss symptoms.

Arora was overcome with emotion as he honored his late parents, Krishna and Pran Arora, who served as the inspiration for the Trust’s name. With tears in his eyes, he revealed: “They might have been spared if my mother had received a diagnosis sooner. That suffering motivates me to make sure that no family experiences the same loss as a result of delayed detection. He declared with pride that the Krishna Pran Charitable Trust regularly organizes medical camps and awareness campaigns, and has adopted over 350 patients. “Our goal is prevention through education and early intervention, not just treatment,” he stated.

In order to eradicate breast cancer through awareness, accessibility, and attitude, Arora called for everyone to work together—not just in October, but every day.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain commended Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora for his admirable efforts to raise public awareness of breast cancer and provide financial support to cancer patients. According to him, trust is also doing a fantastic job of making sure that everyone has access to cheap healthcare.

Among others who spoke on the occasion and offered their medical advise to prevent breast cancer and other types of cancer were Drs. Gurpreet Wandar, Sandhya, and Bishav Mohan. They said that breast cancer affects both men and women. According to them, there is no need to be afraid of cancer because it is currently curable and new treatments are being developed every day.
