Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath welcomes Joda Sahib Guru Charan Yatra in Lucknow, honoring Sikh Gurus’ teachings and India’s spiritual heritage.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath commended Sikh Gurus’ timeless contribution to India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, describing their teachings as a mirror of Ram Rajya values. The Chief Minister made the statements while welcoming the sacred “Joda Sahib Guru Charan Yatra” to Lucknow’s Rakabganj Gurudwara.

The yatra, a profound symbol of the Sikh community’s faith, is related with the revered Joda Sahib (holy footwear) of the tenth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur, both of whom are considered among the most hallowed symbols of Sikh devotion.

Yogi greeted the sacred procession moving from Delhi to Takht Sri Patna Sahib, saying, “Wherever Guru Maharaj’s holy feet have touched, that land becomes as pure as Ram Rajya.” The impact of Sikh Gurus on India’s Sanatan tradition is unparalleled.”

He went on to say that participating in this holy occurrence was a source of enormous pride and spiritual fulfillment. “The Sikh Gurus have demonstrated the path of sacrifice, service, and truth. “Their teachings continue to guide our society today,” the CM continued.

Yogi emphasized that the sacred yatra represents India’s unity in variety and continues a centuries-old connection between Sikhism and the greater Indian spiritual ethos.

“The journey of Guru Sahib’s Charan Paduka from Pakistan to India after 250 years is not just a religious event but a moment of cultural awakening,” he remarked, praising Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who was also in attendance, for his involvement in organizing the yatra.

Following blessings at Rakabganj Gurudwara, the sacred procession passed through important portions of the city, including Pandeyganj, Naka Gurudwara, Burlington Crossing, and Sadar, where people showered it with flower petals. The yatra continued through Alambagh, Krishna Nagar, and Polytechnic Road until arriving at Aashiyana Gurudwara around 3 p.m.

The sacred yatra, which runs from Delhi to Patna Sahib, attempts to reinstall the sacred footprints of the Sikh Gurus in India—a gesture that combines devotion and historical remembrance.
