CM Pushkar Singh Dhami launches ₹20.89 Cr Khatima-Melaghat highway project to boost Indo-Nepal trade, tourism, and connectivity in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami performed the ceremonial prayer and lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction work on the Khatima-Melaghat State Highway (State Highway No. 107) in Udham Singh Nagar district.
This project, which costs Rs 2089.74 lakh, will rebuild an 11.50 km section of road, build a KC drainage system, add safety features to the road, put up signs, and add TBM and BC layers to make the road stronger.

The Chief Minister said that this road is not only important for the growth of the Khatima region, but it is also a major link between India and Nepal. The road will be easier to drive on, which will help Khatima and other rural areas nearby. It will also help trade, tourism, and education over the border.
He stressed that, in addition to building roads, special attention would be paid to stopping soil erosion and making local drainage systems better so that the road stays safe and lasts for a long time. He said that Khatima has now become an educational center, drawing students from not only Uttarakhand but also nearby border areas.
In his speech, Chief Minister Dhami said that the goal of the state government is to make every part of Uttarakhand strong, accessible, and prosperous. Every development project is a real step toward making people’s lives better, and the Khatima-Melaghat road project will be a big step in that regard.
He went on to say that the Uttarakhand government is dedicated to making Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of “connectivity is the backbone of development” a reality. In this attitude, the state is quickly working to expand and modernize its highways. He also told officials to make sure the roads were clear of potholes.
At the end of the presentation, the Chief Minister wished everyone a happy Diwali and other holidays and reminded everyone that it is everyone’s job to keep the peace, safety, and cleanliness during the holidays.
