As part of a state-wide campaign, the government aims to register 5–6 lakh workers under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board within three months.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said again that his government is committed to the welfare and dignity of the state’s workers. He announced that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) would send ₹11 crore 50 lakh in financial help to almost 10,000 registered construction workers and their dependents. The declaration was made at a meeting of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (UKBCWB), which he led at his camp office.

The Chief Minister added, “This is not just a transfer of money, but a way to show our appreciation and respect for our hard-working workers, who are the real builders of Uttarakhand’s growth.”

He stressed that the state government is committed to making sure that all welfare programs, including help with education, health care, marriage, and death, go to workers and their families on time and in a clear way. “We want to make it so that every worker and their family can take advantage of these programs without delay or trouble,” he said.

Increasing Welfare Coverage

CM Dhami told officials in no uncertain terms that every MGNREGA worker in the state must be quickly covered by the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. He told the board and the labor department to register at least 5 to 6 lakh workers in the next three months, making it a major priority for the administration.

He remarked, “It is the duty of every officer to reach every worker and let them know about the welfare programs and services that are available to them.” Many qualified workers are still not getting benefits because they don’t know about them. This is not acceptable.

The Chief Minister also told officials to do registration and awareness drives at the panchayat level to make sure that every worker who is qualified gets included. He went on to say, “The government is fully committed to improving the lives of our workers.” “Their hard work and dedication are what really makes the state move forward, and it is our moral duty to protect their well-being.”

CM Dhami added again, “The work of our workers is what makes our state grow.” Not only is it our goal to make sure they are healthy, but it is also our duty.

The Mining Department Sets a Standard

CM Dhami praised the work of several state departments, but he singled out the Mining Department, which has seen an unexpected ₹800 crore rise in revenue this year. He said this was because the government was open about its rules and enforced them strictly. He called it “a result of honest intent, clear policy, and strong execution.”

He said that Uttarakhand’s mining strategy, which is based on openness, responsibility, and strict supervision, has now become the standard for other states. “Officials from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have come to Uttarakhand to learn about our mining policy and how it works. He stated, “This shows that people are seeing our way of governing as a success.”

The Chief Minister told all departments, including the Labour Department, to follow the mining department’s example of being efficient, disciplined, and open. He remarked, “Every department needs to set up a system that works and is open, so that the benefits of government programs go directly to the people and the state’s income keeps going up.”

Commitment to the Dignity of Work

At the end of the meeting, CM Dhami stressed that workers are not only important to the economy, but also to the state’s growth. He added, “Our strength is hard work, and our identity is unity.” “Our government is completely behind every worker in their struggles and victories. Our workers’ health and safety is still our top priority.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Sridhar Babu Adaki, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, and high-ranking officials from the Labour Department and the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
