UP govt announces Diwali bonus of up to ₹6,908 for employees to boost festive spirit and provide financial support ahead of the celebrations.

Lucknow: As Diwali gets closer, a number of Indian governments have said they will give government workers extra money for the holiday. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has given 14.82 lakh state workers Diwali bonus before the holiday. The government of Uttar Pradesh would spend Rs 1,022 crore on this project.

The Chief Minister’s Office said that each qualifying employee will get a bonus of up to Rs 6,908, which is based on 30 days’ pay. The goal of the move is to provide government workers some money and holiday happiness before Diwali.

Bhajanlal Sharma, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, also announced a one-time bonus for about six lakh state government workers. The Chief Minister said that workers who are at pay level L-12 or below and have a grade salary of Rs 4,800 or less will be able to get the bonus. The most any qualified employee can get is Rs 6,774.

Sharma said, “Special gift for state government employees on the occasion of Diwali!” as he announced the decision on X (previously Twitter). Our government, which is committed to good governance, has announced that about six lakh employees will get a one-time incentive. He further said that the benefit would also apply to workers in Panchayat Samitis and District Councils.

Before this, Bhupendra Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, had said that 16,921 Class-4 employees will get an ad hoc bonus of up to Rs 7,000. People who work for the Legislative Assembly, the Whip, the Deputy Whip, the Deputy Chief Whip, and those who work for panchayats, colleges and universities that are affiliated with the university, grant-in-aid schools and colleges, and Class-4 employees in state government boards and corporations are all eligible. The Gujarat government’s move attempts to make the festive season more joyous for lower-income employees.
