The Entrepreneurship course will be offered in 20 government and private universities, 320 ITIs, and 91 polytechnic colleges starting in the 2025–2025 academic year.

The Entrepreneurship Mindset Course (EMC) was introduced Thursday by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, for universities, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and polytechnic colleges. The goal is to change the emphasis of education “from producing job seekers to nurturing job creators,” establishing Punjab as a future center of business and innovation.

“Students frequently fail to make a living or make a significant contribution to society despite completing 17 years of study. Because the nation continues to use the colonial-era educational system, which was created by the British to produce clerks, this is a systemic failing. According to Kejriwal, the EMC would encourage young people to think outside the box, take chances, and support Punjab’s and India’s socioeconomic growth.

He claimed that Punjabis are innate entrepreneurs and that this course would help them reach their full potential.

Kejriwal emphasized the course’s scope and stated that Punjab is the first state to implement EMC in higher education. The degree will be offered to 1.50 lakh students at 20 government and private universities, 320 ITIs, and 91 polytechnic schools starting in the 2025–2026 academic year. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Technology (BTech), and Bachelor of Vocational (BVoc) students will be required to take it.

“The course will be integrated into all other degree programs starting in the 2026–2027 academic year and will be required of students each semester, allowing them to gain real business skills. Five lakh kids in Punjab will take the course by the 2028–2029 school year, he continued.

The EMC will be an AI-powered, multilingual (English, Hindi, and Punjabi) digital platform that provides hands-on training in important business skills like marketing, budgeting, financial management, communication, and business operations. The goal is to provide students the skills they need to generate ideas, start businesses, and generate jobs.

The program combines idea generating with personality development, according to CM Mann, who called it a “new model for an emerging world.” “Young people in Punjab are incredibly talented and full of promise. We’re determined to provide them the best starting point so they may realize their goals,” he declared.

Mann pointed out that 45% of Boeing’s engineers are from the state, citing successful Punjabis living overseas as examples.

He also attacked previous administrations for failing to prioritize youth development and education. In the past, politics was pursued at the expense of our children’s future. Parents took their kids overseas because they were so anxious. However, things are now shifting. Just 33% of college seats were occupied when I started my job. It’s 100% today,” Mann remarked.

Manish Sisodia, a senior AAP leader, hailed the action as historic and predicted that it will transform the way people view education. Only 15 lakh of India’s 1.5 crore graduates find employment each year. “EMC will close this gap by teaching students how to make money while they learn,” he said, cautioning that India will remain a developing nation in the absence of such measures.
