NPCI updates UPI transaction limit for Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments, enabling smoother and more flexible digital transactions.
Mumbai : PM Modi declared that India is leading the globe in digital innovation and inclusivity. He emphasized that the UPI network alone handles 20 billion transactions worth 25 lakh crore rupees per month, demonstrating how the democratization of technology has made India one of the most technologically inclusive societies.
“Due to the democratization of technology during the past ten years, India is among the most technologically inclusive societies in the world today… We are assisting other nations in developing their technology in addition to sharing it with them. At the Global Fintech Fest, PM Modi stated, “This is digital empowerment, not digital aid.”

“When we talk about democracy, it is not limited to elections and policy-making,” Prime Minister Modi stated, emphasizing that India is the mother of democracy. The democratic ethos has become a solid underpinning of administration in India. Technology is the best example of it.
Speaking at a CEO event alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Prime Minister Modi claimed that the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the UK and India would bring peace during a period of unrest around the globe.
“The bilateral trade between India and the UK is currently worth USD 56 billion. “I have no doubt that the goal of doubling it will be accomplished before the 2030 deadline,” he stated.
Updated Transaction Limit by NPCI
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) updated the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transaction limit for Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments, further solidifying this development trajectory. For certain confirmed categories, users would be able to transact up to Rs 10 lakh per day as of September 15, 2025.
Currently, 85% of all digital transactions in India are made using UPI.
