Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini visited the family of late IGP Y Puran Kumar in Chandigarh to offer condolences after the senior IPS officer’s tragic suicide.

This afternoon, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paid his condolences to the family of the late Inspector General of Police (IGP) Y Puran Kumar by visiting his official home in Sector 24, Chandigarh. Around 12:30 pm, the Chief Minister arrived with his Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar, where he met Amneet P. Kumar, the officer’s wife, and other family members.

The state police community was shocked by the suicide death of Y Puran Kumar, a senior IPS officer, on Tuesday afternoon. After learning of the news, his wife, Amneet P. Kumar, who was traveling to Japan as a member of the Chief Minister’s team, abruptly left the country and returned to Chandigarh on Wednesday afternoon.

In addition to the Chief Minister, a number of high-ranking government officials and political figures paid their tributes at the mansion. Home Secretary Sumita Misra, Hansi MLA Vinod Bhayana, Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, and Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi were among those who paid the family a visit. As police officers and civil administration colleagues continued to arrive throughout the day to show their condolences and sympathy with the family, the mood at the Sector 24 residence remained solemn.
