During a hearing, an attorney allegedly tried to toss a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai. The culprit was taken into custody right away.
Delhi : A disturbing event apparently involved an attempt to throw a shoe at BR Gavai, the Chief Justice of India (CJI). The culprit, named as attorney Rakesh Kishore, was taken into custody by court personnel and turned over to law enforcement right away. Before the incident, Kishore was heard yelling, “Sanatan’s insult will not be tolerated.” According to information, Chief Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai maintained his composure the entire time. He subsequently declared that he is unaffected by such occurrences and urged the proceedings to go forward.
The accused is currently being questioned by the Delhi DCP and security personnel from the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice BR Gavai’s reported comments on religious deities may have sparked the attack, according to Supreme Court attorney Rohit Pandey. “I strongly condemn this act and urge strict action against the accused,” he added.
A dispute was started by CJI Gavai’s comments on the Lord Vishnu idol in Khajuraho.
A request asking for instructions to rebuild and reinstall a seven-foot deity of Lord Vishnu at the Javari Temple was denied by the Supreme Court on September 16. The judge labeled it a “publicity interest litigation” and rejected the plea.

“This lawsuit is solely for publicity purposes… Ask the god himself to take action. The CJI allegedly stated, “If you are claiming to be a fervent follower of Lord Vishnu, then you pray and meditate.”
The bench stated that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has direct authority over the matter. “Whether the ASI would allow it or not, it’s an archeological find. Numerous concerns exist,” the CJI stated. “If you’re not opposed to Shaivism, you can go worship there in the interim,” the CJI continued. One of the largest lingas of Shiva in Khajuraho is located there.
His remarks provoked a lot of social media reaction and demands for clarification. Later on, the Chief Justice clarified that his remarks had been “misrepresented” and reaffirmed his admiration for all religions.
