Delhi MCD plans 12 themed parks across the city to boost kids’ physical activity and reduce screen time. Three parks in Saket, Mayapuri, and GK-2 approved.
Twelve theme parks for kids are planned by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi MCD, three of which have already received approval. Mayapuri, Saket, and Greater Kailash-2 M Block will be the locations of these parks.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) intends to construct 12 themed parks throughout the city in an effort to promote children’s physical activity and curb their increasing screen usage. Three parks have already received approval, and work will soon start on them.
The new parks, according to MCD authorities, will be situated in places like Saket, Greater Kailash-2 M Block, and Mayapuri. There will be one park in each of Delhi’s twelve municipal zones, with themes ranging from peacocks, insects, and octopuses to The Jungle Book and marine life. The dinosaur-themed park at Waste to Wonder and the Nandan Van park in Greater Kailash are two examples of past MCD projects that have effectively drawn kids with imaginative designs.
The future parks would have swings, slides, balance beams, and tunnels and will cost between Rs 1 crore and Rs 3 crore each. The Teacher Park in Rohini is nearing completion, while Kalkaji Park, which is next to Nehru Place, is being designed with an insect motif.
The parks in Saket and Mayapuri will have a Jungle Book theme, while the park near the Greater Kailash-2 M Block Market will have a Garuda theme. In Karol Bagh, Ajmal Khan Park will have an octopus-themed park.
In contrast to the dinosaur park, which employed the “waste to art” methodology, the new parks will showcase figures crafted from a variety of materials, such as bees, butterflies, spiders, and other critters. MCD officials emphasized that the main goal is to give kids a fun, stimulating atmosphere where they may play actively and use their phones less while they’re there.
