Indian Railways approves ₹492.14 cr Nawada-Pawapuri line to boost trade,jobs & tourism in Bihar; 13,761 staff get ₹244 cr PLB ahead of festive season.

A new 25.10 km railway line between Nawada and Pawapuri, approved by the Ministry of Railways at a cost of Rs 492.14 crore, will increase socioeconomic growth, trade, and religious tourism in bihar. By connecting Pawapuri, Rajgir, Nalanda University, and Bodhgaya, this line will cut down on travel time.

In order to improve connectivity and development in the districts of Nawada and Nalanda in Bihar, the Ministry of Railways has approved the construction of a new 25.10 km railway line between Nawada and Pawapuri, which is expected to cost Rs 492.14 crore.

Saraswati Chandra, the chief public relations officer for East Central Railway, stated that the project’s goal is to advance religious tourism, trade, and socioeconomic development in the area. The new route will reduce reliance on driving by offering direct rail access to Pawapuri, a Jain pilgrimage site. Additionally, it will shorten travel times along the Nawada-Nalanda-Rajgir stretch and provide communication between Parasnath, Rajgir, Biharsharif, and the well-known Jal Mandir.

New Railway Line to Improve Connectivity and Create Jobs : 

In addition to strengthening economic relations between Nawada, Nalanda, the proposed industrial hub, and the traditional silk center of Kadirganj with Bhagalpur, the link is anticipated to improve access to Nalanda University and Bodh Gaya (via the Rajgir-Gaya route). During the project’s building phase, jobs are also anticipated to be created.

Separately, the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for 2024–2025 has been approved by the Ministry of Railways. 13,761 DDU division non-gazetted employees received a total of Rs 244 crore. With a monthly cap of Rs 7,000, the incentive, which was computed over 78 days, gave each qualified employee an average of Rs 17,951.

According to officials, the payout, which is credited to workers’ accounts 24 hours after approval, supports their financial stability in advance of the holiday season while also acknowledging their productivity and commitment. The train system is praising the effort as a motivating step.
