CM Unveils Bold Economic Vision
Lucknow — Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a bold target for Uttar Pradesh, announcing that the state aims to become a $6 trillion economy by 2047. Speaking at the Viksit Uttar Pradesh Vision @ 2047 Conclave, he said that the state’s transformation in the past eight-and-a-half years laid the foundation for this ambitious goal.
The Chief Minister remarked that Uttar Pradesh’s growth story may seem “unbelievable for those who lack masculinity,” but peace, security, and decisive governance had made it possible. He stressed that achieving a developed Uttar Pradesh was not just a resolution but should become “part of our daily routine.”
Reforms Driving Economic Transformation
Yogi Adityanath highlighted his government’s zero-tolerance approach toward nepotism, casteism, and corruption. He argued that Uttar Pradesh was never inherently a BIMARU state but had been forced into that category due to decades of divisive politics.
Citing a CAG report, he said UP’s revenue surplus had jumped from ₹37,000 crore in 2023 to ₹70,000 crore in 2025. “A state with such a large population is executing development projects without obstruction,” he stated, crediting the turnaround to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the collective efforts of the people.
The CM noted that investor-friendly policies, rapid infrastructure expansion, and transparent governance were positioning Uttar Pradesh as a growth engine of India.
Agricultural Strength and Global Context
The Chief Minister placed India’s and Uttar Pradesh’s economic rise in historical and agricultural context. He pointed out that 60 percent of India’s land is suitable for cultivation and habitation, compared to just 20 percent in Russia, China, and the United States.
“While America is geographically larger, India has equal arable land. Our fertile soil and ancient civilisation made us a global leader,” he said.
Tracing history, Yogi reminded the audience that during Chandragupta Maurya’s reign, India contributed 40 percent of the world economy, which later declined under successive foreign rules. He alleged that British colonisation looted wealth worth $32 trillion, crippling India’s cottage industries.
However, he expressed optimism, noting that India’s global standing has changed. “In 1947, India’s share of the world economy was only 2 percent. By 2014, we were the 11th largest economy. Today, we are fourth, and this year, India will become the third largest economy.”
Roadmap for a Developed Uttar Pradesh
Looking ahead, Yogi stressed that Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural potential could expand threefold with modern policies, technology, and global partnerships. “We have laid the foundation—now is the time to build a strong edifice,” he said.
He urged citizens to view a developed state not as a distant dream but as a shared daily responsibility. He reiterated that by 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of independence, Uttar Pradesh will not only meet but surpass the $6 trillion milestone, fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
The CM also extended Navratri greetings, released a book titled “8 Years of UP Government,” and presented the state’s progress story, emphasizing its transformation in governance, infrastructure, and economic planning.
