UP’s Mission Shakti centers will mandate counseling in false complaint or elopement cases and hold regular awareness drives on cyber security and women’s safety.
Lucknow: In accordance with a recent direction from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Police has released comprehensive guidelines for establishing Mission Shakti centers in every police station in the state. The program, which is a component of the state government’s main Mission Shakti campaign, attempts to improve women’s independence, safety, and dignity.

Mission Shakti : Center staffing and structure
DGP Rajeev Krishna’s directions state that Mission Shakti centers will operate as miniature police outposts that are only tasked with managing cases involving crimes against women.
An officer-in-charge at the sub-inspector level, ideally a woman, will lead each center. One to four more sub-inspectors, four to fifteen constables (half of whom will be female), one or two female home guards, and counselors as needed will assist them. Officers assigned to these centers will be on duty for three to five years, with the possibility of promotion following specialized training.

It has been directed that each police station set aside a distinct space for the Mission Shakti center.
These rooms will have the following amenities:
- Records, computers, and stationery
- Specialized restrooms for women
- Room for victim support and counseling activities
Essential duties
In addition to combating crime, the Mission Shakti centers will also provide support services and preventative measures.
Among their responsibilities are:
1. Creating duty rosters for the Women’s Help Desk and making sure that complaints are promptly followed up on
Overseeing Women Beat plans and Anti-Romeo squads
2. Keeping separate FIR files for crimes involving women
3. Working together with family courts, probation officers, district-level legal aid authorities, and one-stop centers
4. Offering victims help for compensation, counseling, rehabilitation, and legal advice
5. Counseling sessions will be required in delicate situations like elopement or false accusations.

It is anticipated that the centers will act as a link between victim aid agencies and law enforcement by working with welfare authorities and community stakeholders.
