Bihar CM Nitish Kumar launched Mahila Rozgar Yojana, offering ₹10,000 to 50 lakh SHG-linked women via a ₹5,000 crore DBT scheme to boost economic independence.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched the Chief Minister’s Mahila Rozgar Yojana, a significant program designed to empower and enable women financially. The Chief Minister has always pushed for women’s development since his first time in office, and this new plan is a big step toward half of the population becoming economically included.

One qualifying lady per family will receive Rs 10,000 in cash help under this program. During the launch event, the Chief Minister started a Rs 5,000 crore disbursement to encourage women to work for themselves by directly transferring the first installment to the bank accounts of 50 lakh women around the state.

Through the use of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the money is meant to assist women in becoming self-sufficient and launching or growing small enterprises. Over 1.05 crore Jeevika Self-Help Groups (SHGs) members have applied thus far, and over 1.4 lakh women are attempting to join SHGs in order to qualify for the benefit.

Qualifications for the Mahila Rozgar Yojana

1. Eligibility is restricted to women who are affiliated with Jeevika SHGs.

2. The candidate must be a member of a family that includes a husband, wife, and any unmarried children.

3. Adult single women who have no living parents are likewise qualified.

4. You must be between the ages of 18 and 60.

5. Neither the applicant nor her husband should be an income tax payer or a regular or contract employee of the government.

Application Procedure for Mahila Rozgar Yojana in Rural Areas:

1. Women who are already members of SHGs are required to apply via their village association.

2. To compile group members’ applications in a unified format, a special village-level conference will be organized.

3. Before registering for the scheme, women who are not currently SHG members must fill out a form to join the SHG.

Places in Cities:

1. Urban women may apply online at www.brlps.in, the official Jeevika website.

2. Urban women who have already joined SHGs are exempt from having to reapply online.

Statewide Events and Schedule : 

1. District-Level: Activities led by the District Magistrate (DM) in each of the 38 district headquarters, in which at least 1,000 SHG women, officials, and members of the public participate.

2. At the block level, 500 SHG women, authorities, and public representatives participate in events led by Block Development Officers (BDOs) in each of the 534 blocks.

3. Cluster-Level: Initiatives at 1,680 Jeevika Sanghs at the cluster level, each with 200 livelihood group women.

4. Village Organisation Level: 100 SHG women are hosted by 70,000 village organisations that broadcast live.
