Abhishek Sharma tops ICC T20I batting rankings after Asia Cup heroics; Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav drop as Salt and Buttler rise.

New Delhi: Abhishek Sharma, the Indian opener, is still ranked first among batters in the most recent ICC T20I rankings. He scored 31 runs off of just 13 balls to give India fast starts in both of their Asia Cup games, including the one against Pakistan. With 884 ratings—his career high—he is 46 points behind Phil Salt, who is in second position and has also risen in the rankings as a result of his recent spectacular hit against South Africa.

England broke the 300-run mark for the first time in their T20I cricket history as Salt hit 144 runs off just 60 balls in the third and final T20I match against South Africa. Jos Buttler’s score of almost 80 runs in the same match also propelled him to third position in the rankings.

In the rankings, Tilak and Surya decline.

During the process, Tilak Varma struggled since he was unable to bat against the UAE and then hit 31 runs off of as many deliveries against Pakistan. With 792 rating points, Tilak is ranked fourth in the rankings. Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka has overtaken Suryakumar Yadav, who played a captain’s knock against Pakistan and was still undefeated at 47, to take sixth place in the Asia Cup with back-to-back fifties.

With 747 rating points, Surya has fallen to seventh place in the most recent rankings, 22 spots ahead of eighth-place Tim Seifert. In the meantime, Dewald Brevis of South Africa is getting closer to the top 10. After a respectable performance against England, he now holds 674 rating points and is in 11th place.
