Amit Shah, the home minister, criticized Rahul Gandhi on Saturday for “showing arrogance in Parliament” despite losing the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Amit Shah addressed Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saying, “Many times, we find that in democracy, arrogance comes after winning; such people are in power in Jharkhand. But this is the first time I’ve seen someone get arrogant following a setback.

“Everyone knows who won the elections, who formed the government. The conduct of Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament, people don’t get this much arrogant even after winning two-third of seats,” according to him.

In a direct message to Congress leaders, the BJP leader said, “I want to tell the Congress leaders from this stage today that the NDA got full majority this election. The BJP alone got 240 seats which is still more than the INDIA alliance combined.”

“Then why this arrogance?” he inquired.

“BJP got more seats in this Lok Sabha elections than Congress’s combined numbers in 2014, 2019, 2024,” Shah stated at the party meeting in Ranchi

“We have won for the third consecutive time, but their leader is still not able to accept the defeat,” he said.

Shah also criticized Hemant Soren’s government, alleging that the JMM-led government in Jharkhand is the most corrupt in the country, having been implicated in land, liquor, and mining schemes worth crores.

Citing the state’s Lok Sabha election results, Shah stated that the BJP will form government in Jharkhand, where the lotus flowered in 52 of 81 assembly constituencies.
