The finance minister atishi claims that no return on Rs 2 lakh crore tax contribution

Delhi Finance Minister Atishi sought Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre for infrastructure development on Friday, stating that the city government received nothing in return for its Rs 2 lakh crore income tax payment in the previous year.

During a news conference here, the minister also said that Delhi had added Rs 25,000 crore in central GST to the revenue pool.

Ahead of the announcement of the Centre’s annual budget, Atishi advocated for the release of more funds to Delhi, claiming that they might be spent on infrastructure development in the road, transport, and electricity sectors, as well as to beautify the city.

She claimed that since 2001, the Centre has only paid the Delhi government Rs 325 crore from the central pool of taxes.

However, this payment was suspended last year, and the city now receives nothing.
