Viral Video Shows IAS Officer Assaulting Student
In the video, Collector Sanjeev Srivastava can be seen entering an examination hall, confronting a student, dragging him out of his seat, and repeatedly slapping him, all while holding a paper in his hand. The student has been identified as Rohit Rathore, a second-year BSc Mathematics student.
In a second clip, Srivastava escorts the student into what appears to be a staff room, hands over a paper to another individual, and continues to interrogate Rathore, slapping him again during questioning.
Rathore later alleged that the physical assault affected his ear, stating, “Because he is an IAS officer, I couldn’t say anything.”
Srivastava Justifies Action, Cites Cheating Racket
Defending his actions in a televised interview with NDTV, Sanjeev Srivastava claimed he was investigating an organized cheating racket. He alleged that some students had smuggled question papers outside the exam centre, had them solved externally, and then re-entered with the solved answers.
“I received complaints about mass cheating. The system was being exploited, and I went there to take immediate corrective action. I have written to the university to disqualify this college as a future exam centre,” Srivastava stated.

The exam centre in question — Deendayal Dangraulia Mahavidyalaya — is reportedly owned by Narayan Dangraulia, father-in-law of Hemant Katare, who is currently the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh. Adding to the growing list of accusations, Bhind Tehsildar Mala Sharma has accused both Collector Srivastava and SDM Parag Jain of mental harassment. In a formal letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, she stated:
“If anything happens to me due to this torture, the responsibility will lie with Collector Sanjeev Srivastava and SDM Parag Jain.”
