Innovations by Dairy, Animal Husbandry, and Gopalan Departments to Make Rajasthan No. 1 in Milk Production: Zoraram Kumawat
Secretaries of 48 Women Dairy Committees Participate in Training Camp Organised by NCW & RCDF
Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Gopalan, and Devasthan Minister Mr. Zoraram Kumawat said that Rajasthan currently ranks second in milk production in the country and is moving toward becoming the top state. The Dairy, Animal Husbandry, and Gopalan departments are implementing several innovations. Notably, artificial insemination is being done using semen imported from Brazil for Gir cows, which will more than double milk yield. Additionally, the Sex-Sorted Semen Scheme has been introduced to increase the cow population, further boosting milk production.
Mr. Kumawat was addressing the inauguration of a three-day women’s training camp at the Banas Dairy premises in Palanpur, Gujarat, organized jointly by the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF) and the National Commission for Women (NCW).
The minister informed that 48 women secretaries from milk committees in four district milk unions—Jaipur, Sikar, Bharatpur, and Tonk—will receive training during the camp. The training aims to improve the operational efficiency of the committees, enhancing both profitability and the skills of the women involved. He emphasized that such training should eventually be extended to every woman associated with women’s dairy committees.
He said the dairy sector is a strong means of promoting women’s self-reliance and stressed the need to increase women’s participation in dairy cooperatives and unions. Healthy competition should be encouraged among the unions, and dairy societies should communicate effectively with farmers in every village to improve their performance. Dairy unions should develop better models to make dairy work more beneficial for farmers and recognize those performing well in the field.
Mr. Kumawat also appreciated the efforts of Banas Dairy in women’s empowerment and praised Rajasthan’s Saras Dairy for its exemplary work in the sector.
The inaugural session was also addressed by NCW Chairperson Mrs. Vijaya Rahatkar, Gujarat Assembly Speaker Mr. Shankarlal Chaudhary, and RCDF MD Ms. Shruti Bhardwaj. Dignitaries present included Banas Dairy Vice Chairman Mr. Bhava Bhai Rabari, Banas Medical College & Trust Chairman Mr. PJ Chaudhary, Banas Dairy MD Mr. Sangram Chaudhary, and Principal Private Secretary Mr. Ramavatar Singh.
