WhatsApp New Features Aim to Improve Privacy, Personalisation and User Safety

WhatsApp’s latest updates include AI-generated Status images, improved privacy controls, and smarter link previews.

WhatsApp has been steadily rolling out several small yet useful updates aimed at improving both privacy and personalisation for users. From silencing unknown callers to sharing AI-generated images through Status, the latest WhatsApp new features focus on making everyday chatting safer, smarter, and more interactive.

These additions may appear minor individually, but together they show how WhatsApp is gradually evolving into a more personalised communication platform.

WhatsApp About Section Now Feels Like A Live Status

One of the biggest highlights among the WhatsApp new features is the upgraded About section. Instead of being a forgotten profile line, users can now update and share their About status directly through chats.

This allows users to quickly share moods, availability, or short updates without posting a full Status. Friends and contacts can also view and respond to the About section more easily, making it function similarly to a lightweight live status.

Users can edit the About section by going to Settings and tapping the bubble attached to their profile picture. Privacy settings are also available, allowing users to choose who can view their updates.

Silence Unknown Callers Enhances Privacy

Spam and scam calls remain a major concern across messaging platforms, and one of the most practical WhatsApp new features is the Silence Unknown Callers option.

Once enabled, calls from unknown numbers will no longer ring on the user’s phone. However, these calls will still appear in the Calls tab, allowing users to review missed calls later if needed.

To activate the feature:
Settings > Privacy > Calls > Silence Unknown Callers

This feature adds another layer of protection against unwanted disturbances and scam calls.

WhatsApp Link Previews Now Show More Details

WhatsApp has also improved the way shared links appear inside chats. Updated link previews now display larger images and additional information related to the website or content being shared.

The improved preview format helps users identify trusted links more easily while also making suspicious links easier to spot. Users simply need to paste and send a link normally to see the enhanced preview.

These visual upgrades are another example of how the latest WhatsApp new features are designed to improve user safety and convenience.

AI-Generated Images Can Be Shared Through Status

Artificial intelligence is becoming more deeply integrated into WhatsApp through Meta AI features. Users can now create AI-generated images directly for WhatsApp Status updates.

The feature allows users to type prompts describing the image they want to create. WhatsApp suggests using it for travel updates, announcements, celebrations, or creative posts.

To use the feature:
Open Status > Tap AI Images > Enter a Prompt

This addition reflects Meta’s increasing focus on AI-powered tools within the app ecosystem.

Privacy Checkup Simplifies Security Settings

Among the most useful WhatsApp new features is the Privacy Checkup tool. Instead of manually searching through multiple settings menus, users can now review and manage important privacy controls from one dedicated section.

The Privacy Checkup includes controls related to:

  • Profile visibility
  • Last seen settings
  • Call privacy
  • Account protection
  • Contact permissions

Users can access the feature through:
Settings > Privacy > Privacy Checkup

WhatsApp Continues To Focus On Privacy And AI

While none of these updates completely changes how WhatsApp works, together they clearly highlight the platform’s direction. The latest WhatsApp new features strongly focus on privacy, AI integration, and personalised communication tools that blend naturally into daily conversations.

With these updates, WhatsApp is continuing to improve user control, convenience, and engagement while keeping the app modern and competitive in the messaging space.
