Vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini leaks reveal periscope cameras, MediaTek Dimensity 9400, and flat 1.5K displays ahead of next month’s launch in China.

Vivo debuted its S30 and S30 Pro Mini phones in May of this year, and the business shows no signs of slowing down. Instead of producing an S40 lineup, Vivo is moving directly to the S50 series, and there’s a cultural reason for this. The number 4 is traditionally considered unlucky in China, thus Vivo has decided to avoid it totally.

Leaks have begun to surface about the upcoming Vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini, and based on what we’ve heard, both phones sound very fascinating.

Let us start with the displays. The Vivo S50 Pro Mini is believed to retain the same 6.31-inch screen as its predecessor, while the ordinary Vivo S50 may shrink its display size to 6.59 inches from the previous 6.67-inch panel.

Both phones will feature flat screens with 1.5K resolution, which means clearer images and higher clarity for everyday use. The S50 could also feature a premium metal frame, lending it a solid, high-end feel. What truly sticks out is the camera setup.

According to Weibo user Digital Chat Station, the Vivo S50 may include a flagship-level periscope telephoto camera, which is unusual for phones in this price bracket.

The smaller S50 Pro Mini is also reported to boast full flagship-level hardware, though we don’t have any specs yet.

According to rumors, the Vivo S50 Pro Mini will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, which promises high performance and seamless multitasking.

It is also said to feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader and a triple back camera arrangement with a periscope lens for high-quality zoom pictures.

The Vivo S50 series could debut in China next month, competing directly with the Oppo Reno 15 and Honor 500 series.
