Sony’s forthcoming PlayStation 6 is reportedly imminent, despite its improbable nature. The PlayStation’s creator, Mark Cerny, is actually providing indications that are diminishing the status of a rumor.
During a conversation with AMD’s Jack Huynh, Cerny elaborated on Project Amethyst, a collaborative initiative between Sony and AMD that aims to surpass the limitations of console gaming. The first discernible indication that the PS6 may be imminent was the discussion regarding future PlayStation hardware.

Sony and AMD have formed Project Amethyst, a partnership that is designed to revolutionize the performance and graphics rendering capabilities of gaming consoles. Primary objective? Utilizing AI and machine learning to significantly reduce the resource utilization of intensively detailed features, such as ray tracing.
At present, ray tracing is regarded as a visual marvel; however, it is notoriously GPU-intensive, frequently restricting games to 30 frames per second. By employing AI-driven optimization, the console may be capable of delivering the same level of visual fidelity at a frame rate of 60 or even 120 at 4K resolution.

Cerny suggested that Sony’s subsequent console may be imminent, despite the fact that the project is still in its infancy.
