Huawei has officially confirmed the launch date for its upcoming Huawei Nova 16 series, marking the company’s next major smartphone release in China. The new Nova lineup is scheduled to debut on June 1 at 12:08 PM China Standard Time, which translates to 9:38 AM IST.
Ahead of the launch event, Huawei has started teasing the Nova 16 series on Weibo, offering an early look at the design and hinting at multiple devices expected to arrive under the new lineup.
Huawei Nova 16 series expected models
Although Huawei has officially revealed only the Huawei Nova 16 Pro so far, reports suggest the lineup may include three smartphones:
- Huawei Nova 16
- Huawei Nova 16 Pro
- Huawei Nova 16 Pro Max
The upcoming Nova 16 series will succeed the Nova 15 lineup that launched in China in December 2025.
Huawei Nova 16 Pro design teased
The teaser shared by Huawei reveals that the Huawei Nova 16 Pro will continue the brand’s familiar Nova-series design language. The rear panel features a quad-camera setup divided into two circular camera modules.
Three camera sensors are positioned inside the primary circular island, while another lens and LED flash are placed separately in a second module beside it. The phone also appears to feature a flat rear design with Huawei branding positioned at the bottom centre.
On the right edge, the power button and volume controls are visible, while the left side remains clean without additional buttons or design elements.
Expected specifications and colour options
Leaks surrounding the Nova 16 series indicate that the Nova 16 Pro Max could arrive with the largest display in the lineup. The smartphones are also expected to launch in multiple colour variants.
The standard Huawei Nova 16 and Nova 16 Pro may be available in black, blue, white, and gradient finishes. Meanwhile, the Huawei Nova is tipped to launch in black, blue, and white colour options.

Like Huawei’s recent smartphones, the upcoming Nova 16 series is expected to run on HarmonyOS instead of Android, further expanding the company’s in-house software ecosystem.
For reference, the previous-generation Huawei Nova 15 featured a 6.7-inch OLED display, Kirin 8020 chipset, up to 512GB storage, and a 6,000mAh battery.
With Huawei continuing to strengthen its hardware and software ecosystem, the Huawei Nova 16 series could become one of the company’s most closely watched smartphone launches of the year.
