iPhone update : Nowadays, one of the biggest annoyances for mobile users is spam calls. They never stop, whether it’s relentless credit card solicitations or aggressive loan incentives. For some time, Apple has been trying to do this with features like Silence Unknown Callers, which put unknown callers straight into voicemail. ‘Ask Reason for Calling’ is a more sophisticated and clever element that the firm is now using to enhance its offerings.
An Improved Method for Handling Unknown Numbers
Recently described on Apple’s official website, Ask Reason for Calling lets you know why someone is trying to reach you before you even answer. Once the functionality is enabled, your iPhone will automatically answer unknown calls and request the caller’s name and reason for calling. No one will interrupt you while this is happening.
When the caller answers, your i Phone will ring and display the shown information. At that point, you have the option to either answer the phone or ignore it. Compared to the prior Silence Unknown Callers option, which tended to block both spam and legitimate calls, such delivery alerts, doctor’s appointments, or formal confirmations, this is a significant improvement.

Activating ‘Ask Reason for Calling’
It’s simple to begin. Tap Screen Unknown Callers after choosing Phone in the Settings app on your iPhone. The option to enable Ask Reason for Calling will then appear. You can also choose to eliminate call screening completely or go with the Silence Unknown Callers setting.
Accepted iPhone Models
Although support ends with the iPhone 11 family, this functionality, which Apple is introducing with iOS 26, works with a variety of devices. This is a list of models that are supported:

- The iPhone 16 series
- The iPhone 15 series

This feature won’t work with older models, such as iPhone 11 and lower.
