Google has started rolling out pinned tabs for Google Chrome on Android, bringing a long-standing desktop feature to mobile devices. First announced in December 2025, the feature is now available in Chrome version 144.0.7559.132, which is gradually reaching users.
With this update, Android users can pin important tabs just like they can on desktop platforms such as Windows, macOS, and Linux. Once pinned, a tab stays fixed at the beginning of the tab switcher and remains there even after the browser is closed and reopened. Google previously noted that pinned tabs stay at the front of the browser, making it easy for users to continue where they left off.
How to pin tabs on Chrome for Android:

Open Chrome on your Android phone.

Press and hold the tab you want to pin.

Select the “Pin tab” option from the menu.
The tab will then appear at the top of the tab switcher. To remove it, repeat the same steps and choose to unpin or close the tab.

Pinned tabs are especially useful for frequently visited pages like email, work dashboards, research documents, or banking sites. Keeping them pinned helps prevent accidental closure and allows quicker access to essential tasks.
This update is part of Google’s broader effort to make the Chrome experience more consistent across mobile and desktop devices. The company is also reportedly enhancing Chrome’s support for Android’s upcoming Desktop Mode, which will enable a more desktop-style interface when a phone is connected to an external display.
