The UIDAI has launched its latest Aadhaar app, designed to make managing Aadhaar simpler and more convenient for Indian citizens. Whether you want to update your Aadhaar-linked mobile number without visiting a physical center, or you’re facing verification issues due to an inactive number, the new app promises to streamline the process. It also allows users to update other personal details efficiently, all from one platform.
Key Features of the New Aadhaar App
The updated app offers secure offline verification, mobile number and address updates, and selective data sharing, enabling users to share information quickly and safely from their smartphones.
Privacy and Security at the Forefront
UIDAI emphasizes that many people still provide unmasked photocopies of their Aadhaar for purposes like hotel check-ins, office verification, and other services, which exposes their personal data. The new app addresses this by enabling offline verification without sharing biometric data or mobile numbers, protecting user privacy.

-
Select your preferred language and complete the setup.
-
Log in to access digital Aadhaar services, verification, and updates.
Offline Verification Options
Once setup is complete, the app allows Aadhaar verification even without an internet connection, ensuring privacy by sharing only essential information. There are two options for offline verification:
-
Share ID: Generate a password-protected Aadhaar file and choose which details—such as name or age—to share.
-
QR Code Scanning: Scan a QR code provided by the verifying entity for quick authentication, without handing over physical documents.
Updating Mobile Number and Address
The app also makes it easy to update personal details. Log in using Aadhaar authentication, go to the Update Aadhaar Details section, select the information to update, enter the new details, and submit them for verification. After authentication and a nominal fee, the updated details reflect in your Aadhaar records.
Additional Useful Features
-
Multiple Aadhaar Profiles: Users can create up to five Aadhaar profiles, ideal for families to add dependent details like children.
-
Aadhaar Contact Card: Share your contact details safely without revealing your complete identity.
Regulations for Institutions Using Offline Aadhaar
UIDAI has introduced rules for organizations wishing to use Aadhaar for offline verification. Such entities—including hotels, banks, and other service providers—must register with the government to ensure proper usage and prevent data misuse.
The new Aadhaar app thus provides a secure, convenient, and versatile solution for managing Aadhaar, protecting privacy, and simplifying verification and updates for individuals and families alike.
