CM Yogi Adityanath said expressways are the base of UP’s economy; Ganga Expressway to finish by December with focus on defense corridor and job creation.

Ganga Expressway :  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that expressways are the foundation of the state’s economy and industrial future, not only a means of transportation, during a review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) .

According to an official statement, he emphasised that efforts must be accelerated to improve connection between the state’s eastern and western regions and instructed officials to make sure the Ganga Expressway’s construction is finished by December.

Additionally, the chief minister mandated weekly evaluations of each project’s advancement and emphasized that no quality compromise would be accepted.

In addition, the proposed Vindhya Expressway and Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway, which will link Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra, as well as the Meerut-Haridwar, Noida-Jewar, and Chitrakoot-Rewa link expressways, were reviewed at the meeting.

To avoid overlap and provide a cohesive, coordinated road system throughout the state, Adityanath instructed that when designing new expressways, complete alignment with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) network be maintained.

Additionally, at every node of the defense industrial corridor in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot, he oversaw the construction of skill development centers.

He went on to say that these facilities had to give local kids technical training and connect them with the defense sector in order to generate job opportunities and encourage regional self-reliance.

According to authorities at the conference, 5,039 acres of land have been purchased for the defence corridor, and numerous businesses have already started operations. The investment plans for the corridor total about Rs 30,819 crore.

The state’s land allocation policy should be automatically revoked if an investor does not use the allocated land within three years, the chief minister said, highlighting the policy.

He gave officials instructions to set up an open system for tracking land use and to only provide further facilities to investors when there has been real development.

The UPEIDA time-bound plan to draw investment to the logistics parks and industrial clusters being built alongside the expressways was also discussed at the meeting.

The statement stated that truck terminals, emergency and medical facilities, and a dependable supply of water and energy are all part of the proposal.
