UP CM Yogi Adityanath to launch MSME industrial zones in all districts from Oct 31, creating jobs and boosting local industries under a phased plan.
On October 31, the 150th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will unveil a plan to create MSME industrial zones in every district of Uttar Pradesh.
Through the “MSME Industrial Area and Employment Scheme,” each district’s Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSME) department will create 100-acre industrial and employment zones.
Launch and Land Allocation in Phases
The plan will be introduced in stages:
Phase 1 (October 31): In 15 districts where land has been identified, the Chief Minister will virtually introduce the program. These districts are:
- Meerut
- Farrukhabad
- Bulandshahr
- Bhadohi
- Kanpur Nagar
- Kanpur Dehat
- Mirzapur
- Mau
- Barabanki
- Jalaun
- Jhansi
- Kannauj
- Aligarh
- Rae Bareli
- Etawah
Phase 2: In 15 to 20 succeeding districts, industrial zones will be created.
Phase 3: All remaining districts will be included in the program.
With the assistance of district magistrates, the MSME department is identifying land in order to create a land bank. Investors will be able to purchase 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 square meter plots under the new plan. In every industrial region, special employment zones will be created.
The MSME Department’s New Role
The agency will create its own industrial regions for the first time since 1960, according to MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan. Up until now, only Bhadohi had the MSME department’s ability to create a land bank; currently, all districts have this capability.
The following amenities will be available in the new MSME industrial areas:
- Highways and street lights
- Centers for facilitation
- CETPs, or common wastewater treatment plants
- Exhibition spaces
- Offices of industry
- Every additional facility associated with business and employment
MSMEs’ Present Situation in Uttar Pradesh
The goal of this program is to strengthen the state’s robust MSME base.
Operational Units: There are currently 9 million MSME units operating in Uttar Pradesh, consisting of 36,000 small industrial units and 8.964 million micro-industry units.
National Share: This represents 14% of the whole MSME sector in the nation.
Employment: Through these MSME businesses, 14 million individuals have found work.
Exports: Of the state’s exports, the sector accounts for 45%.

Apart from textiles and clothing, UP has expanded its involvement in a number of other MSME industries, including IT services, software development, digital marketing, and handicrafts, handloom, weaving, embroidery, carpets, Chikankari, leather, dairy, fruit processing, and agricultural products.
