This winter, UP PWD is fast-tracking road and bridge projects with a ₹32,000 crore budget, focusing on MP/MLA suggestions. Approvals expected by October 15.

UP : Because the Public Works Department (PWD) is expediting its project approval process, residents should anticipate a notable increase in the construction of roads, bridges, and culverts this winter.

The PWD’s Expenditure Finance Committee has begun holding daily meetings in order to facilitate the earliest possible start of new infrastructure projects. About 30 bids are approved by the department each day, according to PWD Principal Secretary Ajay Chauhan.

All new initiatives are expected to receive financial clearances by October 15. This will enable a speedy completion of the tendering process, allowing building to start as soon as possible.

Project Scope and Budget : 

For the current fiscal year, the PWD has a budget of about Rs 32,000 crore.

For new projects, Rs 22,000 crore has been set aside. Based on suggestions from MLAs and MPs, this work plan contains plans for constructing bypasses, extending state highways, improving pilgrimage routes, and linking villages with link roads.

Ongoing projects will be funded with the remaining Rs 10,000 crore.

According to officials, the department is on track to achieve its target of October 15th, with projects valued between Rs 250 crore and Rs 300 crore getting authorized every day.
