UP CM Yogi Adityanath transforms AYUSH hospitals into research centres, integrating traditional therapies with modern medicine for critical diseases.
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is taking a major step to elevate AYUSH systems of medicine by transforming AYUSH hospitals into research-oriented centres. These hospitals will not only provide treatment but will also focus on scientific research for critical and lifestyle-related diseases, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity, thyroid disorders, joint ailments, and mental health issues.
According to Principal Secretary, AYUSH, Ranjan Kumar, the Yogi government is making continuous efforts to integrate Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, and Homeopathy with mainstream healthcare. The objective is to combine modern medicine with AYUSH therapies to enhance treatment effectiveness, prevent diseases, and promote long-term health.
As part of this initiative, the state plans to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Central Research Centres, allowing AYUSH doctors to receive research training, technical support, and access to modern laboratory facilities. Research will focus on understanding the causes of diseases, lifestyle factors, diet, and the effectiveness of AYUSH-based treatments.
The move aims to establish Uttar Pradesh as a national leader in AYUSH research, giving recognition to doctors and researchers and promoting global acceptance of traditional treatments. Findings from these studies will help develop Standard Treatment Protocols that can be applied both in India and abroad, enhancing the credibility of AYUSH medicine.
Additionally, the initiative will create employment and research opportunities, providing AYUSH doctors, researchers, and students with dedicated platforms to innovate and conduct practical research. This is expected to improve the quality of education in AYUSH colleges and contribute to a comprehensive healthcare model that balances modern medicine with traditional knowledge.
