UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates Gorakhpur flyover and rail overbridge, stresses development, investment, jobs, and improved law & order in the state.
Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the state has successfully shed its old “Bimaru” identity and emerged as a model of progress and development. He noted that this transformation has unsettled casteists and dynastic political groups, who were historically aligned with rioters and disruptive elements.
CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh has shifted from being a state plagued by unrest to a festival of development and peace. Strict law enforcement has made the state largely riot-free, affecting those who previously relied on unrest for their political or economic gain.
“Casteists and dynasts troubled by development”
The Chief Minister emphasized that certain groups, uncomfortable with the rapid development, attempted to create chaos. These groups often instigated riots and unrest, but their actions were effectively countered by the state government’s law-and-order measures.
Reflections on the pre-2017 era
CM Yogi reminded people that prior to 2017, the state faced widespread fear, lawlessness, riots, and instability. Women and businesspeople often felt unsafe, and caste-based politics dominated the landscape. He stressed that the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2017 has prioritized solutions, youth empowerment, and security, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.
Infrastructure Milestones in Gorakhpur
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister inaugurated two major infrastructure projects: a cashier crossroads flyover costing Rs 96.50 crore and the Banyard-Nakha rail overbridge built at a cost of Rs 152.19 crore. He personally unveiled the shilapat and inaugurated these projects, emphasizing their public utility.

Gorakhpur’s New Identity
The Chief Minister remarked that Gorakhpur is now recognized for world-class roads, industrial hubs, and AIIMS, rather than mafia activity or mosquito-borne illnesses like encephalitis. Key projects include four-lane connectivity, expressway links, and major industrial investments, reflecting the city’s new development-centric identity.
Equitable Development Across the State
CM Yogi stated that development will no longer remain concentrated in the hands of a few families or regions. Infrastructure growth like that seen in Gorakhpur will extend to cities such as Lucknow, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Azamgarh, Bundelkhand, and Western UP.
Religious Tourism and Security
The Chief Minister cited the example of Magh Mela in Prayagraj, where attendance has risen dramatically from 10–15 lakh to over four crore devotees on Mauni Amavasya and three and a half crore on Vasant Panchami, reflecting improved security and administration.
