UP CM Yogi Adityanath urges society to support PWDs; 16.23 lakh cards issued, pensions raised, shelter homes opened, and empowerment programs launched.

On World Disability Day 2025, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh,Yogi Adityanath emphasized that people with disabilities (PWDs) may do things that many might think are impossible with little assistance. According to him, society frequently undervalues them, but when someone decides to believe in them, their potential becomes apparent.

What was said by CM Yogi?

Speaking at a state-level function in Lucknow, the chief minister claimed that children who suffer from illnesses or accidents frequently experience emotional neglect in their homes and in society at large. He cautioned that while it may have a profound effect, prompt support could transform their life.

According to the chief minister, the federal and state governments are working to give PWDs more access to work, education, and assistive technology. “They can achieve exceptional outcomes with timely encouragement and support,” he stated.

What are the main actions taken by the government?

Over 16.23 lakh cards have been issued in the state, and the disability pension has increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000. Thus far, about 20 lakh registrations have been finished. In Bareilly, Meerut, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow, a number of shelter houses have been put into service. Some in Banda and Chitrakoot have not yet opened. The only state with two universities specifically for people with disabilities is Uttar Pradesh.
