UP CM Yogi Adityanath sets Dec 15, 2025 deadline for tap water in Vindhya & Bundelkhand under Jal Jeevan Mission, emphasizing quality and timely completion.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has established a deadline of December 15, 2025, for the installation of tap connections and the completion of a third-party audit in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions of Uttar Pradesh, as part of a significant initiative to guarantee a pure water supply for the residents. The decision was reached during the CM’s review meeting on Sunday regarding the status of the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission-Har Ghar Nal Yojana’.
Similarly, initiatives in Phases that are currently 90% complete should be completed by December 15, in accordance with Phase 1. In the interim, a goal has been established to finalize the work that is presently 75% complete by March 2026.
The state government’s highest priority, according to the Chief Minister, is the provision of pure drinking water to every household. This initiative is not merely a drinking water supply program; it is a mission that is directly connected to the quality of rural life, the dignity of women, and public health. He further stated that there will be no compromise on the caliber of the schemes or the timeline at any level. A dearth of funds will not be tolerated at any point.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Namami Gange, the Rural Water Supply Department, Jal Nigam, and various implementing agencies, who presented a comprehensive progress report. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the various agencies involved in the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Chief Minister interviewed representatives from a variety of agencies, such as Larsen & Toubro, NCC Limited, Megha Engineering, PNC Infratech, IC Infra, Power Mech, and Kalpataru Projects, to learn about the obstacles they encounter in their professional endeavors. He addressed all critical issues with the agencies, such as the quality of work, remaining phase-wise duties, arrears, and payments. He also provided them with explicit instructions to ensure that they adhered to quality standards and deadlines.
The meeting stated that the state is currently implementing schemes worth a total of Rs 90,223 crore. Of these, 63 are based on surface sources and 548 on groundwater sources. Additionally, it was reported that water connections have been installed in over 1.98 crore rural households in 85,364 villages. At present, 34,274 villages are receiving a consistent water supply.
The Chief Minister was informed that the central government is presently in the process of considering a proposal to extend the duration of the Jal Jeevan Mission to December 2028 and increase the project cost. The chief minister declared that the state government will persist in its efforts to guarantee that the public receives the advantages of the schemes in a timely manner by utilizing its own resources.
During the meeting, it was disclosed that the central government had appointed nodal officers to investigate 147 initiatives in 74 districts (janpads) of the nation. Of these, 132 were determined to be satisfactory.

The state-developed grievance redressal system portal, https://jalsamadhan.in, has been viewed over 13.5 crore times. 46,354 of the 62,688 complaints that were submitted via the portal have been satisfactorily resolved.
The toll-free number 1800-121-2164 is also being used to register complaints. The Chief Minister instructed officials to guarantee that the complaints of the complainants were satisfactorily resolved.
