Sharda University BDS Student Found Dead in Hostel, Harassment Alleged
A second-year BDS student at Sharda University, Greater Noida, was found dead in her hostel room late Saturday night, sparking massive outrage and grief. The 20-year-old student allegedly died by suicide inside the girls’ hostel located in the Knowledge Park area.
According to Knowledge Park Kotwali police, the student was discovered hanging by hostel staff. The body was immediately taken into custody and sent for postmortem examination.
Family members reached the spot soon after receiving the news. They have alleged that persistent harassment and humiliation by faculty members pushed their daughter to take this extreme step.
Family Accuses Faculty of Harassment and Mental Torture
The student’s family has accused specific faculty members of mental harassment and humiliation, claiming that she had been under immense psychological pressure.
In a note reportedly found in the student’s room, she stated:
“They humiliated me in front of everyone. I am not able to bear it anymore.”
Although the police have yet to officially confirm the presence of a suicide note, sources close to the investigation have indicated that a detailed note blaming teachers is part of the early findings.
Family members claim that the student had repeatedly complained about unfair treatment, excessive pressure, and humiliating remarks in front of classmates.
Police Initiate Inquiry, Postmortem Report Awaited
The Knowledge Park police have launched a probe into the incident. They confirmed that the student’s body has been sent for autopsy, and further action will depend on the postmortem report and the outcome of their inquiry.
“We are investigating the case thoroughly. If any evidence of abetment or harassment is found, strict legal action will follow,” said a senior police official.
So far, no FIR has been registered, but the police have taken statements from fellow students and hostel staff.
University Administration Remains Tight-Lipped
Sharda University authorities have not issued any public statement regarding the incident as of now. Attempts to reach the administration for comment remained unsuccessful.
However, the incident has triggered widespread discussions on mental health, academic pressure, and student well-being in higher education institutions.
On social media, students and activists demanded transparency and immediate action, with hashtags like #JusticeForShardaStudent trending on local platforms.
