Meerut DM initiates action plan to revive Kali & Ganga rivers; Municipal Commissioner to find STP land, Jal Nigam to conduct drone drain survey.

District Magistrate Dr. VK Singh presented a number of important projects for river revitalization and environmental preservation at a combined meeting of the District Ganga Committee, Meerut, District Tree Plantation Committee, and District Environment Committee.

The Namami Gange Unit (Rural) of Jal Nigam was directed by the DM to carry out a drone assessment of the drains that feed into the Kali River and provide the District Ganga Committee with a thorough report. Additionally, he gave the Municipal Commissioner instructions to find appropriate site on Abu Nala One for the proposed 65 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP), working with the Cantonment Board if necessary.

A ten-day action plan for the revitalization of the Kali River was to be prepared collaboratively by district authorities from the District Development Office, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development. As part of Seva Pakhwada (Service Fortnight), the DM gave all of the authorities in attendance a cleaning commitment at the meeting.

The Sardhana Municipality and the District Panchayati Raj Officer were directed to collaborate in order to manage solid trash along the Kali River’s banks, including acquiring garbage disposal equipment. Along the Ganga, Hindon, and Kali rivers, public awareness campaigns are also planned.

Additional directives included establishing a Gramin Chaupal (Village Meeting) and informing the Forest Department of its information, executing firecracker-related Supreme Court rulings, and putting Mission Shakti plans into action in 50 girls’ schools, including Kasturba Vidyalayas.

In 15 days, there will be another gathering to discuss the concept for revitalizing the Kali River. ADM Administration Satya Prakash Singh, PDDRDA Sunil Kumar Singh, District Panchayati Raj Officer Virendra Singh, PWD XEN Satendra Singh, CDO Nupur Goyal, and Divisional Director of Social Forestry Vandana Phogat were among the officials in attendance.
