CM Yogi Adityanath approves 95 new irrigation projects in UP, benefiting 9 lakh farmers, enhancing canal networks, and boosting agriculture and rural economy.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a thorough review meeting of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department and authorized 95 new projects that will further reinforce the state’s canal system.

By providing farmers with timely and dependable irrigation, he said that these initiatives will greatly strengthen the agricultural industry. Nearly 9 lakh farmers and rural communities will directly benefit from the Rs 39,453.39 lakh projects, which will restore irrigation capacity across 36,000 hectares. 273 hectares of departmental land will also be protected.

The Chief Minister said that no quality must be sacrificed and gave bureaucrats strict instructions to finish all approved projects within the allotted period.

The gathering was informed by officials that the 95 canal restoration projects involve building siphons, falls, head and cross regulators, and other concrete structures in addition to filling in gaps in the canal network. Additionally, the projects include building and repairing bridges and culverts along canal tracks, installing kerbs on canal routes, lining and filling reaches, repairing broken culverts, and improving internal and external canal sections. Plans also call for the construction of boundary walls to safeguard departmental territory and the renovation of office buildings, watermills, and inspection buildings. These measures will guarantee a steady supply of water in many areas and greatly increase the capacity of the irrigation network. Western Uttar Pradesh, Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, and Terai farmers are anticipated to gain the most.

The Chief Minister pointed out that these initiatives have a bigger picture in mind than just actual building. Improving water management, advancing farmer welfare, raising agricultural output, and bolstering the rural economy are their overarching goals. In order to guarantee that no farmer in the state experiences a lack of irrigation, he reiterated the government’s commitment.

In addition, the Chief Minister instructed the department to evaluate underutilized land and create a comprehensive plan for its best use during the meeting. Using such land effectively will help the agency make more money, he said.

The Chief Minister reviewed flood management operations and gave staff instructions to start planning in January, taking into account the needs for the upcoming year. He demanded that a thorough action plan be created in cooperation with public officials in order to guarantee prompt and efficient execution.
