HC Refuses Anticipatory Bail for Neha Rathore in Case Linked to PM Modi Remarks
The Allahabad High Court rejected bail for Neha Rathore on Friday in a case tied to alleged indecent remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bhojpuri singer and YouTuber faced the court after her plea for anticipatory bail was placed before the Lucknow bench. However, the bench refused relief and allowed the case to move ahead.
The FIR was registered earlier this year at Hazratganj Police Station. It followed comments that Rathore made in April on X. Moreover, she faced other FIRs across Uttar Pradesh for similar posts. The primary allegations claim her statements could hurt public harmony and promote caste or communal tensions. Police said that her comments also linked the government with divisive politics.
The case relates to remarks she made after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The attack claimed 26 lives, including a Nepali national. Singer Says Her Remarks Were Misunderstood and Not Intended as Targeted Insult
In an earlier interaction with ANI, Rathore defended her stand. She said that her comments were not meant to insult the Prime Minister. Moreover, she insisted that her intent was to highlight the need for stronger security systems for tourists. She said that her post expressed concern, not political provocation.

The complaint was filed by poet Abhay Pratap Singh, also known as Abhay Singh. He claimed that her post could encourage anti-national attitudes. Additionally, he said that the comments had the potential to promote caste-based tensions. Police included these claims in the FIR and moved ahead with their investigation.
The court noted the seriousness of the allegations. It also reviewed her digital footprint and the reach of her social media posts. After this, the court refused to grant her protection from arrest. The case will now proceed as per legal process.
