Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar announces 56 smart transport services now available 24×7, offering online licenses, registrations, and Aadhaar-based access.
The Punjab government has made 56 smart services pertaining to driving licenses and car registration available to the state’s citizens around-the-clock in keeping with its goal to effective and citizen-centric administration in 2025. Applicants can access these services from the comfort of their own homes by applying online, calling the 1076 helpline, or visiting Sewa Kendras during business hours.
Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar went on to reveal that the government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has been providing the public with better transportation-related services for the last three and a half years. Through improved service delivery, this effort has decreased citizen discomfort while guaranteeing transparent procedures, hence reducing corruption.
According to the Cabinet Minister, these services are offered around-the-clock via the departmental website, https://www.parivahan.gov.in. Aadhaar-based authentication allows citizens to use these services from the comfort of their own homes. According to him, a single site in Chandigarh prints smart cards for driver’s licenses and registration certificates, which are then sent by Speed Post to the homes of applicants. He added that when presented to law enforcement officials, important documents including registration certificates, driver’s licenses, and insurance documents kept on digital platforms like mParivahan and DigiLocker are accepted as legitimate originals.
According to Bhullar, the Punjab government has made it possible for women to travel in state-run buses for free. Women were able to take use of around 21 crore free trips on Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS buses during 2022–2023 and 2025–2026 until October 15, 2025. The state government has spent approximately Rs. 1157 crore on this.
The state government has also implemented the e-Learner’s License program for residents, the Transport Minister added. With this technique, qualified candidates can easily get their learner’s license from home using Aadhaar. According to the Cabinet Minister, Punjab’s motor vehicle dealers have been approved as registering authorities for the on-the-spot registration of new cars using Aadhaar-based procedures. The system’s goal is to save citizens needless trouble and make it possible to issue Registration Certificates at the dealer level.
Volvo buses have also been run from Punjab to Delhi International Airport, the Cabinet Minister added. According to him, Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS operate a total of 19 Volvo buses that go from different parts of the state to the Delhi Airport. According to him, these buses offer travelers from Punjab convenient transportation options at significantly cheaper fares than private buses.
