Punjab announces Sarpanch and Panch elections in Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur villages; polls on January 18, nominations by January 8.
The Commission published a notification on January 5, 2026, about holding elections for the open positions of Sarpanches and Panches in the following Gram Panchayats in Tarn Taran and District Gurdaspur:
Kalanaour Mojowal, Purani, P.A.P., Chakri, Dhaki, and Zaildara are all part of the Gurdaspur district.
District Tarn Taran: Mari Kamboke (68), Pandori Gola (79), Kakka Kandiala (63), Kazi Kot (70), and Nalagharh (69).
As announced by the program, the deadline for submitting nominations is Thursday, January 8, 2026. The poll will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and the votes will be counted at the polling places that same day, right after the poll closes.
Within the revenue authority of the relevant Gram Panchayats, a Model Code of Conduct has been implemented immediately and will remain in place until the election process is concluded, which is January 19, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioners and District Election Officers in Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran have been instructed to make all necessary preparations for conducting these elections in a transparent, free, and fair manner.
