Balkaur Singh Identifies Six Accused in Sidhu Moose Wala Murder Case
In a significant development in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case, the late singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, appeared before the Mansa district court on Friday and identified six men allegedly involved in his son’s killing. The identification marks an important step forward in the long-running investigation into one of Punjab’s most shocking celebrity murders.
Father Names Key Suspects Before Mansa Court
Appearing for the first time before the Mansa sessions court, Balkaur Singh identified four alleged shooters—Deepak Mundi, Priyavrat Fauji, Ankit Sersa, and Kuldeep Kashish—along with two other accused, Sandeep Singh alias Kekra and Baldev Nikku, who allegedly helped track Moose Wala’s movements before the fatal attack.
The court, presided over by Judge Manjinder Singh, partially examined Balkaur during the proceedings. The next hearing is scheduled for November 14, when the cross-examination is expected to continue.
Balkaur’s counsel, Satinderpal Singh Mittal, confirmed that the testimony included the identification of both the accused and the two vehicles allegedly used in the crime—a Toyota Corolla and a Bolero.
“All accused, except Kashish, were physically produced in court on Balkaur’s request,” Mittal said. “He had earlier expressed difficulty recognizing them through video conferencing.”
Recalling the 2022 Killing of Sidhu Moose Wala
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village, Mansa district, Punjab. The attack occurred shortly after the Punjab government reduced his security cover. The 28-year-old singer-turned-Congress politician was travelling with two associates when a group of armed assailants opened fire on his vehicle.
The brutal murder sent shockwaves across India and among Moose Wala’s vast global fanbase. The singer’s music had earned him fame not only in Punjab but also internationally, with millions of followers on social media.
Police investigations later revealed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the prime suspect behind the killing, allegedly as part of an ongoing inter-gang rivalry. Shortly after the murder, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility, stating that the attack was revenge for the killing of Vicky Middukhera, an associate of the Bishnoi gang.
