Punjab launches ₹5,000 Cr “Roshan Punjab” mission to ensure 24/7 affordable power, modernize infrastructure & boost development across the state.

To address the power situation permanently, the Punjabi government has taken significant action. The goal of the “Roshan Punjab” initiative, launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday, is to guarantee an affordable, 24-hour electricity supply throughout the state for the upcoming year. The government says that lighting up every Punjabi home, farm, and industry is a purpose, not merely a plan.

A 5,000 crore rupee investment has been approved for the project.

This enormous project has received approval from the state government for an investment of ₹5,000 crore, which is thought to be the largest expenditure in the power sector in history. According to the Chief Minister, this will improve Punjab’s energy structure and provide residents, farmers, and businesses with steady electricity. “Now, no farmer will be in the dark, and no factory will stop waiting for electricity,” he stated. Light will be available in every home, and at a reasonable cost.

PSPCL Chairman Ajay Kumar Sinha and his staff are working to fix the electrical system, while Power Minister Sanjeev Arora is overseeing the process. The government struck a long-term supply agreement with the western coal mine to ensure a steady supply of electricity. Additionally, by putting the GVK thermal plant under government administration, it has been made sure that the state government would have full control over the electricity generation process and that the general public will directly profit.

Older stations are being restored, the distribution network is being modernized, and new substations are being built to fortify the state’s power system. These initiatives will lessen issues such as unplanned power outages, voltage issues, and restoration delays.

Thirteen municipal corporations began a special cleanliness drive.

The government has started a special cleaning campaign in 13 municipal corporations with the goal of promoting cleanliness and safety in urban areas. This involves hanging wires below, closing open meter boxes, and removing unauthorized and non-power wires from PSPCL pillars.

To improve public convenience and boost the efficiency of the 1912 helpline in addressing complaints promptly, a state-of-the-art 180-seat call center has been established in Mohali. The “Roshan Punjab” plan, according to Chief Minister Mann, is the cornerstone of the state’s promising future in addition to improving power. He claimed that this is a critical step in reviving Punjab’s development, independence, and public confidence.
