In the four hours leading up to 8.30 am on Tuesday, Chandigarh, the shared capital of the two states, received 40.6 mm of rain, according to the MeT department.

There was 26.8 mm of rain in Ambala, Haryana, 19.2 mm in Hisar, 14.8 mm in Karnal, 41 mm in Narnaul, 10 mm in Rohtak, and 12 mm in Sirsa. Following rainfall, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the two states as well as Chandigarh reduced.
Monday saw a maximum temperature decrease of up to eight degrees below average.
