Chandigarh, Punjab: Today, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed the media to discuss the remarkable Punjab village development achievements under his government. Highlighting the transformative steps being taken to modernize rural areas, Mann emphasized the government’s commitment to turning every village into a model of progress and prosperity.
Under these initiatives, projects worth ₹2,367 crore have been undertaken, shamlat lands have been reclaimed generating ₹1,842 crore in revenue, and more than 3,000 new playgrounds have been constructed across the state. Libraries for children in villages and programs empowering women through 58,303 self-help groups demonstrate the broad scope of the Punjab village development achievements.

12,000 Village Defence Committees and 2,900 Panchayats Highlight Punjab Village Development Achievements
As part of the ‘War Against Drugs’ initiative, 12,000 Village Defence Committees have been formed to ensure the safety and security of rural communities. Moreover, a record more than 2,900 panchayats have been elected by consensus, reflecting strong citizen participation in local governance—another key element of the Punjab village development achievements.
