Chandigarh, Punjab: In a historic move towards digital education, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced a ₹400 crore digitalisation project under Punjab Sikhya Kranti, aimed at revolutionising government schools with modern technology and smart learning tools.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann described the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative as a transformational milestone in Punjab’s educational journey. “Never before has digital infrastructure been rolled out at such scale in government schools. Our students must be prepared not just for today, but for the future,” he said.

Massive Technology Upgrade Across Schools

Under the ambitious project, outdated hardware will be replaced and all government Senior Secondary, High, and 50% of Middle Schools will be equipped with 38,649 new desktop computers and 8,268 Interactive Flat Panels across 5,012 schools. Dedicated computer labs are being established in 5,000 schools to ensure fully functional digital classrooms.

Education Minister Bains emphasized that the project Punjab Sikhya Kranti ensures digital literacy and smart learning are no longer privileges of private institutions but a fundamental right of every Punjab student.

Community Engagement and Transparent Rollout

“This Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative allows the community to see the transformation inside government schools, building confidence in public education,” said Bains.

Teacher Assurance and Monitoring

Addressing teacher concerns, Bains assured that all teaching jobs are secure and the government is working with teacher unions to explore legal solutions for experienced educators. The rollout will follow strict monitoring, safe installation protocols, and transparent use of public funds, ensuring effective delivery of technology to classrooms.

A Step Towards the Future

The Punjab Sikhya Kranti project is a key component of systemic educational reform, transitioning traditional classrooms into smart, technology-enabled learning spaces. With this initiative, the Punjab Government positions its students at the forefront of digital preparedness, ready for higher education, employment, and leadership in a rapidly evolving world.
